Programs & Services Offered at ICR

I. Education:
Schools: There are 3 schools currently serving the community: Al-Iman (full time school, pre-K to 8th grade), Al-Furqan (weekend Sunday school) and Al-Bayan (Qura’nic school) for children and adults. The total number of students attending these schools exceeds 600. The schools have enhanced course quality as well as space to accommodate larger numbers of students.
Adult Education: Courses in Tajweed, Fiqh, Seerah, and Arabic at different levels are offered. In addition, courses in computers, seminars in taxes, parenting, burial and heath fair are regularly held. Scholars and guest speakers are invited frequently.
II. Social/Religious Activities:
The Da’wah Committee organizes the annual Hajj trip. The MPH is used as a gym to attract the youth (boys and girls) as well as adults. It is also used for wedding ceremonies and funeral prayers. Other activities include Eid prayers (which attracted over 5,200 people last year); Eid picnics, community dinners, Ramadan iftars, the Family Fun Day (sponsored by Al-Iman School), the health fair, and the Qur’an contest (sponsored by Al-Iman School). With the addition of Al-Ma’idah kitchen, excellent food and opportunities to socialize are also available.
III. Youth and Sport Activities:
The annual Youth camp and Youth day attract over 100 and 300 youths respectively. There are several other programs for boys and girls, including the Youth halaqah, the middle and high school activities, the MSA clubs in several area high schools, the Ramadan iftars and sleepovers, and sports tournaments
throughout the year.
IV. Social Welfare:
IAR’s Social and Welfare Committee collects Zakah/Sadaqah money and distributes it to the needy Muslims locally and worldwide, especially during times of crisis. It offers scholarships to help needy students pay their tuition at Al-Iman School. During economic downturns, it offers assistance and comfort to those who lose their jobs. Counseling as well as performance of marriage contracts are provided by this committee. It also runs a food pantry for Muslims and non-Muslims.
V. Other Services:
Cemetery Committee offers complete funeral and burial services in the Muslim cemetery located in Zebulon.
Da’wah Committee presents Islam to schools, churches, colleges, correctional institutions, individuals and groups on a regular basis. It holds workshops on
Islam in prisons and for beginners.
There are several other committees that support all the activities at the Islamic Center:
Management Committee is responsible for the maintenance/security/safety of the buildings. It manages the use of the facilities and the scheduling of events.
Planning & Construction Committee is responsible for the expansion of the Islamic center and its future projects.
Finance Committee/Treasurer are responsible for fund raising, collection of funds and the establishment of investment projects. They insure that all IAR
transactions are in compliance with applicable government rules and regulations. The treasurer also maintains the records of all financial transactions and account books.
Women’s Committee is responsible for the welfare of the women in the community. It tends to the educational needs of the sisters. It coordinates and conducts various activities for the IAR such as Eid picnics, Ramadan iftars and babysitting.
