All workshops are at 10:00 am on Saturdays in the Islamic Center of Raleigh located at 808 Atwater St., Raleigh, NC

You MUST attend ALL FOUR Workshops and Each workshop will last for about 3 hours. The workshops are as follows:

    1. November 3rd: Rituals I : Tawaf Al-Qudoom
    2. November 10th: Logistics I: Preparation in U.S. , What to do on the way?, Jeddah and Makkah
    3. November 17th: Rituals II: Mina, Arafat, Muzdalefah, Hajj from 8th of the Thul-Hijjah until 13th of Thul-Hijjah
    4. November 24th: Logistics II: Preparing for 8-13 of Thul-Hijjah and Madinah

Those who do not attend some or all of these workshops will have difficulties, will delay the group, and ask questions in the parts that they missed in of the training.

The requirements which you need to submit are:

  1. Your Balance amount of $3,135 payable to Mohsen Mansour
  2. Complete Saudi Consulate Visa Application Form
  3. Four passport photos (with white background). One attached to visa form the other three photos with your name printed on the back placed in a small envelope
  4. Passport - valid for six months (Expires after June-July 2008)
  5. Copy of Permanent Resident Card (if not US citizen) and
  6. Vaccination for Meningitis. Yellow traveling vaccination certification
  7. Married People with Different last name, need a copy of marriage certificate in English or Arabic
  8. Women 45 years and above traveling alone need Letter of Mahram (husband, son, or father) giving them permission to travel with El-Ehsan Group.

Amongst the many services of the Social and Welfare Committee, settling of refugees has been occuring for the past few years.

Recently, a young adult family of two brothers and a sister arrived as refugees from Somalia via Kenya.  They are brothers Abdi and Derow and their sister Suldana. They had been living in a Kenyan refugee camp for many years with their father prior to their arrival in the United States.  Although their father had also planned to come to the U.S., he unfortunately fell ill and passed away shortly before their departure from Kenya.

These siblings were blessed by Allah to have settled in such a generous community.  Through the tremendous assistance and generosity of the Muslim community we were able to procure and furnish an apartment and provide food from the ICR's food pantry.

The coordination and logistics of bringing all the donated goods and supplies together was no easy task, but was smoothly accomplished by Sr. Reyhana Land, may Allah be pleased.  This family has been through many trials thus far, and acclimating to this country and culture must surely be another test, may Allah be merciful.

Alhamdulillah, the emotional support from the Somali community has been phenomenal. The Durow’s are now working and attending ESL classes. Insha’Allah they will continue to thrive and experience peace and tranquility that has been absent from their lives for so many years.

Jazakum Allahu khairan to all those who helped make the settlement of this family in our community successful.  Please remember to make dua for them and please remember to contact the ICR Social Welfare Committee for volunteer opportunities.

    Summary: Short talk program is an educational program by The Educational Committee held at the Islamic Center of Raleigh. The talks are held after Fajr and Maghrib/Isha prayers throughout the week.

    Between October - March the talks are held after Isha prayers and switch to Maghrib prayers during the rest of the year. The approximate duration of a short talk is about 5-10 minutes, with the exception of talks held on weekends which are held for an hour.

    Topics covered during this program may include:

    2. Islamic Law
    3. Family Issues
    4. Contemporary Islamic Issues
    5. Community Issues
